About this dataset
The ERS Food Dollar dataset tracks the value of food production across domestic supply chains, showing how each dollar spent on U.S.-produced food is allocated. It provides detailed accounts for both food-at-home and food-away-from-home categories and reports values in millions of dollars and cents per food dollar from 2007 to 2024. Each account includes three complementary “bills” that break down supply chain costs by marketing activities, industry groups, and primary factors of production. Updated in March 2026, the dataset offers expanded coverage and refined spending estimates, with annual updates released every November.
