About this dataset
The Area Health Resources Files (AHRF), released annually by HRSA's Bureau of Health Workforce / National Center for Health Workforce Analysis, provide county-level data on health professions, health facilities, utilization, expenditures, population, and environment characteristics. The 2024-2025 release restructured the county file into seven focused CSV subsets (plus a complete file) and introduced new descriptive variable names to replace the old numeric Field identifiers; a crosswalk between old and new names is included. New for 2024-2025: 47 physician-count variables from AMA Physician Professional Data and updated County Adjacency data from the 2024 U.S. Census Bureau file.
