About this dataset
Metadata for Commercially Navigable Waterways (CNW). These are considered High Consequence Areas (HCAs) as defined in 49 CFR § 195.450 and represent waterways where a substantial likelihood of commercial navigation exists. The CNW data is a subset of the National Waterway Network (NWN) as distributed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Only features from the NWN data that are considered shallow draft, deep draft, or both shallow/deep draft waterways are included in the CNW dataset.
