Metadata for National Pipeline Mapping System - Pipelines

Metadata for the National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS) geographic information system (GIS) pipeline dataset. This dataset contains the location and selected attributes of gas transmission and hazardous liquid pipelines under jurisdiction of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). It is used to support the assessment of risk associated with the nation's hazardous liquid and gas transmission pipeline infrastructure. Distribution of NPMS data in GIS format is limited to pipeline operators, emergency responders and local, state, tribal, and federal government officials and is subject to data access limitations and agreements. The public can view NPMS data with limited attributes and a limited scale for one county at a time using the NPMS Public Viewer.
