About this dataset
Recreational features contains the areas of features that are used for recreation as well as potentially being impervious surfaces. The original data capture of the data in this layer was completed in 2014 using stereo models from the 2009 Virginia State imagery. Subsequent to that an update capture was completed in 2022 using stereo models from the 2017 Virginia State imagery. The most recent planimetric update was completed in 2024 using orthoimagery from the 2023 and 2022 Eagleview Orthophotos. This layer contains various recreational features that have been captured through the planimetric update project. These data sets are used to further identify areas of impervious surfaces as well as identifying types of recreational features. The types of features include basketball courts, tennis courts, bleachers, pathways, tracks, playgrounds, diamond fields, rectangle fields, and volleyball courts.Contact: Fairfax County Department of Information Technology GIS DivisionData Accessibility: Publicly available Update frequency: As NeededLast Revision Date: 3/1/2024Creation date: 1/1/2013Layer name: GISMGR.RECREATIONAL_FEATURES
