VDH NAS By Sex and Year

This dataset includes counts of neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) hospitalizations and rates of NAS per 1,000 birth hospitalizations among Virginia residents for years 2016 through the most recent data year available. City/county of residence is based on the zip code of the patient’s residence at the time of hospitalization. Hospitalizations are derived from inpatient hospital discharge data provided by Virginia Health Information (VHI) to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Office of Information Management (OIM) and analyzed by the VDH Office of Family Health Services, Division of Population Health Data. When dataset is downloaded, the dates will be sorted in ascending order, meaning that the earliest date will be at the top.
