Transit service is the activity of buses, trains, and other transit vehicles when a vehicle is available to the general public and there is an expectation of carrying passengers3. Transit service is split into two main categories. Scheduled service is what a transit agency plans to happen (i.e., what you see on transit schedules) while actual service is a record of what actually happened.
